Sounds like the thermostat needs to be replaced. It is stuck wide open. I think this because the temperature gage does not rise very much. The engine is not getting warm enough to supply enough hot coolant to the heater coil.
Many better thermostats are fail-safe designs that stick wide open when they fail so the engine does not overheat.
Also, if this is a V6 Malibu, there could be air pockets in the cooling system. There is a bleeder valve at a high point of the cooling system, located in a metal pipe above the water pump. With the engine cold, open this valve slowly until coolant comes out. If no coolant comes out, add more coolant to the coolant tank. When coolant starts to come out of the bleeder valve, close the valve. Be careful not to over tighten the valve, they are easy to break.
1 coolant level...use 50/50 coolant/water mix
2 thermostate is bad
first id check to see if thermostat is opening and closing and if its really cold put a box flap infront of radiator just dont cover the whole thing just a small part like the flap of a box works great to close off some air should help it heat up back east or up north but most likey its thermo stuck open if it doesnt get hot or it takes a long time its open and stuck
Check your coolant level it off with 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water
The thermostat would be my first place to look & replace. If it is stuck open then the engine will not reach its proper running Temperature. Thermostats are a common problem, stuck open no heat and stuck shut they can cause major damage with over heating. The replacement part is cheap and well worth having done.
is it the heat and ac both of them your vent door motor may have gone bad that would be the first thing i would check
if its just the heat flush the heater and replace the thurmostat
HI
well the only thing the AC and the heater have in common are the vents and the fan motor....
if the fan motor works then I'd start by checking the fluid in the radiator its self... with the motor cold look in the radiator the fluid should be to the top but no more than 1" from the top.. if the coolant is low the water pump can not move enough coolant to move it into the heating system.. If that's good then the thermostat may be stuck open and not letting the coolant to heat up.
OH and like the guy abouve said you may have a vacuum leak as the doors that move the air around the system are operated by motor vacuum and if that system has a leak in it the door won't open to move the air.
good luck
tim
Having to rev the engine like that sounds to me like the water pump is going. Now you have nothing... Which could be any number of things like the following... Your radiator could be plugged, the water pump may have quit completly, you may also have a bad thermostat, you may also have plugged heater hoses., Or your heater core may be either leaking or also plugged. Your air conditioner could have several problems such as the following,,,dirty condenser, faulty compresser, leaking lines, and so on. You may also want to check your fuses... If your blower isn't working, it could be a blown fuse, or a relay or sensor. It could also be the blower switch itself or the blower as well if there is no blower action. If the blower does work, then cover the front of your radiator and wait and see if the heater blows hot air... If so, then you need a new thermostst. You say you have nothing, so I am assuming nothing works for you. So try your fuses, relays, and senors.
Since cats have been around a lot longer than AC I am sure as long as your cat has plenty of water available to her she will be fine.
Keep the house well-ventilated, and maybe have one room with a fan on during the day so she can keep cool in there if she wants. If she's been an outdoor cat in the past, she's probably savvy enough to take care of herself outside in the summer, provided you're not by a busy street. I have 3 cats- we only let 1 outside. The 2 we keep inside because they were indoor cats from birth and do not have street-smarts. (we tried letting them out and it was a mistake! They couldn't fend for themselves at all). The indoor/outdoor cat is very clever. We have lived in 3 homes since we got her, and she never got lost or confused and always came home. So, it's really your call on whether or not to let your cat outside.
The worst thing you can do is let your cat outside. She could get hit by a car, she be attacked by another animal, she could get a viral illness from another animal, she could consume chemicals in someone's yard or garbage can (people improperly dispose of all sorts of things, which end up being consumed by animals) and unfortunately there's all sorts of animal abusers out in the world (I've heard SO many crazy stories of seemingly normal people torturing cats for fun). If I were you I would keep one window open a crack with a piece of wood stuck so your cat can't open the window any larger. Keep LOTS of fresh water.
It is because of the heat running in your house, car, etc.
I put hairspray on a brush and comb it through my hair three times to make the statics go away. Also, a dryer sheet will help it go down.
Make sure you're not rubbing the mess out of your hair when you towel dry it. That could help a ton.
Good plan. I'm also planning on running a pipeline from FSM's beer volcano.
where are you going to get the air conditioner and the electricity to run it.
You know, If you turned to Christ, then you wouldn't have to worry about any of that. Good luck.
lol
Somehow I dont think youll be allowed to do that . Satan isnt the most accomodating fellow ;)
Cant take them with you.
Reminds me of a sign I saw...
Better check your A.C.. Jesus is coming
good luck with that, think it will work?
An engineer dies and reports to hell. Pretty soon, the engineer gets dissatisfied with the level of comfort in hell, and starts designing and building improvements. After a while, they've got air conditioning and flush toilets and escalators, and the engineer is a pretty popular guy.
One day God calls Satan up on the telephone and says with a sneer, "So, how's it going down there in hell?" Satan replies, "Hey things are going great. We've got air conditioning and flush toilets and escalators, and there's no telling what this engineer is going to come up with next." God replies, "What?! You've got an engineer? That's a mistake - he should never have gotten down there; send him up here." Satan says, "No way. I like having an engineer on the staff, and I'm keeping him." God says, "Send him back up here or I'll sue." Satan laughs uproariously and answers, "Yeah, right. And just where are you going to get a lawyer?"
Who said God isn't in Hell, too? She's everywhere, remember?
There's even parts of the Bible where God is speaking to someone who is trying to talk his way out of Hell. God is right there.
Hell is not "absence of God" or "separation from God"
Hell is eternal conscious torment.
And the only way to avoid it, is by believing in faith alone that Jesus, who is God, died for our sins on the cross and rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Believe this and you will be in heaven, no matter what!
This is a very stupid question. When you go to hell you will burn in hell forever. Forget about air conditioners there will be no place to plug them up. You will burn in hell and wish that you are in heaven.
Aah, but you are mistaken====again. David said there was no place he could go that God would not be there, even if he made his bed in hell.
Tell your friend that he is lucky. His wife was awesome in the sack and you can't wait to do her again.
Now you have to wake up, go to work and try not to beat off before you go to bed.
You say " Join in ! " :))
Now everyone knows your an a$$hole. Congratulations.
FINALLY... your here.. what took you so long !!
You don't do anything. You're probably not friends anymore.
I'm surprised you still call him a friend, bedding his wife is not a friendly thing to do. Is it so difficult to just say no ????
This has been horrible behaviour by both you and his wife. Come clean, your 'friend' needs to know what scum you both are.
if he stayed and watched, do it again
Wow, sounds like she does not want you two being friends anymore, because once he finds out, he will likely avoid you, or hate you for doing his wife. There is suppose to be a respect of friends with the women.
Now if he approved of it, which he might had, and you just did not know it, it could be interesting, but I would never sleep with my friend's wife without his approval first.
I had a the same exact car! It did the same thing! It was with the fise box on the side of the steering wheel! Check all your connections and wires! It could be a bad connection with the battery or a electical problem!
Find a way to get to the throttle body and idle air control valve. The VECI map under the hood should point the way. If you cannot figure it out, go to an auto parts store and seek out a haynes manual or go the library and find the All-Data data base. When you find these items, clean them out to look factory new with a little Gum-out spray and a toothbrush, if need be. While you're at it, clean out the PCV valve and hose, as a leak here will cause idle problems, as well. I hope that you are using a FULLY synthetic oil in this car, like Mobil One or ELF (the only two I recommend). If not, varnish and sludge LLL build up and cause trouble both inside the engine and inside the supercharger. You may need to totally flush out your crankcase with butyl cellosolve to accomplish this. Good Luck!! For best results, when everything else is working correctly, install a set of Bosch Platinum or NGK Iridium plugs. Both power and MPG's will improve dramatically.
Check out the intake hose past the air filter. If there's a crack in it, the car will get too much oxygen and will just stall. It happened to a friend's car, took us all freakin' day to figure out what was wrong.
The super charged engine has a resistor to reduce fuel pump pressure under light load conditions. Yours has failed it is a ceramic block with two wires going to it located behind or next to the washer fluid bottle.

dont know about that:P
What water conditioner are you using? Sometimes Aquasafe - if too much is put in - will bubble with air pumps. Those bubbles will not harm fish directly, but could interfere with the oxygenation of the tank if they are covering the entire surface and not popping. For a one gallon tank - only a couple of drops of conditioner will be needed. If your water only has chlorine, you can let it sit in a bucket for 24 hours before adding to the tank, and the chlorine will evaporate out. If it has chloramine, though, it will not evaporate and the use of a conditioner is a must. Aquarium salt does not do as good of a job as water conditioners - its bonus is in making nitrites and nitrates less toxic (for mollies, you might want to consider switching to marine salt - it will harden the water and buffer the PH to molly friendly levels).
What really concerns me is the soap. Soap leaves a LOT of residue behind and will definitely kill your fish. (It could also be the source of the bubbles - which will not pop as readily) You are going to need to rinse the aquarium again, then scrub hard with a bleach solution, rinse out again, rescrub with bleach, rinse, rescrub, rinse A LOT to get the soap out. Once you are sure there is no more soap (it will take at least 10 scrubbings if not more to get it all), let the tank sit dry for 24 hours to allow the left over bleach to evaporate out completely. You will probably have to toss the gravel if it has soap - it would take weeks to months of soaking and rinsing to remove all the soap from gravel.
For the undergravel filter to work, the bubbles shouldn't go through the rocks (just up through the tube). It works by creating a current (the bubbles draw water up through the tube with them from underneath the plastic filter base, which forces other water to go down through the gravel). I would take out some gravel. Aim for a depth of 1/4" to 1/2" inch instead - (less is better for the fish). Also check to make sure the tube is inserted properly into the base. Raise the airstone (if you have one) or the end of the air tube to where it sits above the gravel line.
A one gallon tank will only work for molly fry for a very short period, especially if they are sailfin mollies (once they are a few weeks old - they will be too big for the tank and it could start to stunt their growth). You might want to consider getting a 10 gallon as a fry tank.
umm im just a 9th grader but i do know that this is not good if your hand go blue u can maybe lose em if it gets any worse u need to gets some gloves and complain umm to the higher uhh athority u can sew if u lose em umm im taken goverment so i k ow this stuff my email is mushska@yahoo.com email me if u have any other questions but get some gloves and get these heat packs that u can get from a gas station and get ear muffs and do whut ever is possible and check up on your closest docter and see whut he has to say ok good luck hope u get a heater u culd always buy a small little portible heater good luck!
It is vaporisation. Condensing occurs in the outer unit. The refrigerant is compressed in a compressor in the outer unit. After compression it passes through the condensing coil for cooling, after condensing it comes to inner unit where, through an orifice, the liquid refrigerant is expanded in the evaporator coil getting the cooling effect.
egg yolk
sounds gross, but it works!
I use this stuff called mositure plus-by john freida. Its a creme-not serum. And it is very good at anti-poofing my hair.
Try a good creamy leave-in conditioner. Herbal Essences and Pantene make pretty good ones.
Use a powerful conditioner, then rinse with cold water SOFTLY. this locks the moisture in.
Do not blow dry, do not mess with your hair.

First use a clarifying shampoo to remove any build up. Then try using these products on your hair.
http://www.paulmitchell.com/Products/PaulMitchell/Moisture/Pages/Moisture.aspx
I would do a deep conditioner at least once a week. Leave it on your hair for about 20 minutes with a plastic cap over your head. that should help, If you arent going anywhere give your hair a break that day and just condition your hair.
Pure almond oil or advacodo oil, they are very moisturizing and repairing and they have the smallest oil molecule which penetrates the tiny hair shaft. Leave it on as long as you can, I like to put it on and work around the house all day, then use a good conditioning shampoo like WEN, it is a suds free conditioning shampoo and helps with the frizziness and dryness.

Generally, yes -- most rooms (and cars) are nowhere near air-tight.
Blame it on the global downturn of the world and buy a new car.
hope this helps
late 90s early 2000s honda civic...6K or less...good mpg,,,easy/cheap to insure and repair
Get some kind of an SUV because it has the suspension to handle the back roads, a small car's suspension will not take the abuse.
Then for putting around campus get a scooter, they'er fun and VERY economical.
Look for a Ford Ranger or Chevy S-10 pickup if you don't mind a small truck. Both of those should come with heat and air and the newer one will have CD players. They are trucks so they will naturally do good on poor roads. Being small trucks (both available with 4 and 6 cyl engines), they will get good mileage.
A Chrysler Sebring, Dodge Neon, Hyundai Accent, Kia Spectra, Mercury Sable or Mitsubishi Mirage could be a consideration if you prefer a car. However, cars don't tend to do as well on country roads as trucks do.
Anything you get will not be newer than 2003 unless you get a great deal well below Blue Book value.
The best advice I can give, "from experience" an older preferably 1 owner Honda Accord. They keep on going and going. Front wheel drive would be good for country driving. They all come with Air and Heat. Great on gas and drive real well.
all these little Honda's people are saying will not be good on country or poor roads. plus people are going to tell you to get what they like, not what you should get. honestly your best bet would be to go to an auction. you can find great deals! most you will need to have someone with a dealers license. but there are some that you don't. you'll just have to do a yahoo search for your area. but i would say something along the lines of a ford ranger, ford explorer, chevy s-10, s-10 blazer. just about all companies have a mid sized suv now. i hope this helps you at least a little.
Honda Shamonda... sounds like you should go to "cars.com" find yourself a 1 owner Subaru all wheel drive car that fits you budget.. they are tough little cars that can take a lick'in and keep on tick'in..great gas sipper and easy to take care of...they have a wonderfull history and will serve you well for what you are looking for..The diffcult part of this is finding someone who is willing to sell their wonderful little dependable Subaru
I would find a vet that would be willing to do more testing..it could be an allergy to something if it is not fleas..skin scraping and blood work maybe able help come up with something..
Hey!!! OMG ME TOO!!!!!!
i have 3 dogs, well i own 2, but one of mine is doing the same thing as well!! she has been itching for 2 days now, i bathed her, gave her a flea tablet and cleaned all her bedding, its so weird i even asked my vet and she said that it could just be the heat or she is just itchy.
weird i know!!'
We got the vet to do scrapings as well and nothing came up, i think it could just be her dry skin maybe..
it might be allergies to something, food, a new soap, almost anything..
if your vet isnt going to do anything further on the matter I suggest to get a new vet.
"My pup had this its called PYODERMA , your vet can tell with a scraping and a shot about 30.00 for the shot, 23.00 for the scraping and exam and whatever your charged for a visit, and the shot must be repeated 3 week later to be effective...
Try switching foods.
As a preventative measure to itching dogs when everything obvious has been ruled out, it is worth it to try a new food and give it atleast 4 weeks preferably 8 to show improvement:
http://www.dogfoodproject.com/index.php?page=grain_free
Switch to grain free, then to a different protein base if no improvement.
Could be a sensitivity to something in her food. What do you feed her?
You should start supplementing with Omega 3 & 6 oil, a multi vitamin and brewers yeast/with garlic - be VERY careful to not overdo the garlic, just a little does it and they have tablets you can give them, all of this you can get at walmart.
Add these 3 things to her food daily and you should notice an improvement in a couple weeks. We always supplement our dogs with this and give them lamb & rice formula food. Be sure to switch her food slowly. Many friends with dogs who had this problem used my suggestions with AWESOME success.
The supplements also cut way down on shedding, make their skin and coat nice and shiny and keeps the fleas away. Good Luck!
are you using hypo allergenic shampoo? if not change that. We use espree with our dogs because its all natural. also try using a puppy shampoo because they're best for sensitive dogs.
also, some dogs are just itchy, in particular Pomeranian and Pomeranian mixes, so it could just be a genetic thing.
also, dont wash her too often, the more you wash her the dryer her skin will get, if thats the problem. try brushing her out a couple times a week and washing her every few weeks (or on an as needed basis).
also you could check her thyroid levels. some thyroid issues have excessive itching as one of their symptoms but a lot of vets over look it because there are so many other things that it could be.
*edit*
i'm editing this to add to it because i see that you've added some details. i want to warn you against using science diet, it may not be the cause of your dog's problem, but it causes a lot of health problems in a lot of animals. the manufacturers of the food promise you good health and what not, but in fact they're just as bad if not worse for your animals than other leading brands. my cat was put on science diet when they diagnosed him with hyperthyroidism and for YEARS he continually lost weight an was getting worse and worse. it wasnt until i was on catster and heard horror stories about science diet and how vets are paid to promote it that i thought it was the food that was the problem. at the time both my dogs and my cat were on science diet and i took them off immediately. i put them on natural food and within weeks, my cat was gaining weight and looking better than he had in years and my dogs were both looking better and they have no problems with constipation or diarrhea anymore.
may i suggest you change your dogs food to Nutro Natural Choice Ultra Adult Dog Food or Nutro Natural Choice Ultra Large Breed Dog Food. It comes in both wet and dry forms and it took little effort to switch my dog's food.
Science Diet is a crappy dog food and is full of corn which is a common pet food allergen! I would try switching to a higher quality dog food that does not contain the common pet food allergens like corn and wheat.
Not all pet food is made equally. A lot of it is full of corn, by-products, dyes, unhealthy preservatives, filler grains and all sorts of nasty stuff. A lot of pet food companies are perfectly happy to the dump cheap leftovers and things that aren't safe for human consumption (from human food processing plants) into their foods. Will it kill your dog? No, it has to be nutritionally complete and safe to even be marketed. Is it healthy? Not by a long shot.
Corn is a low quality ingredient you never want to see in your pet food. Corn and low quality grains are two of the biggest culprits when it comes to food allergies in our pets.
Thankfully, there are some excellent dog foods being made these days that include organic, human grade ingredients rather than trash not fit for human consumption.
Examples of low quality foods to avoid: Anything you can find in a grocery store will be low end, Purina, Iams, Eukanuba, Science Diet, Royal Canin, Pedigree, Kibbles n' Bits, Beneful, Ol'Roy.
Examples of high quality foods to look for: Innova, Wellness, Solid Gold, Canidae All Life Stages, Fromm Four Star, Merrick, GO Natural, Nature's Variety Prairie, Nature's Logic, Artemis Fresh Mix, Timberwolf Organics.
Although the high quality foods are more expensive, you're getting what you're paying for. Less filler material means more concentrated nutrients... this means you typically need to feed far less of the high quality food than you would of the low quality one. Which also means less poop!
Before following your vet's food recommendation, keep in mind that vets get /very/ little nutritional training during their schooling. Besides that, what training they /do/ get is usually sponsored or taught by the crappy pet food companies! They also often get paid to sell some of their products at their clinics (Science Diet, Royal Canin etc.)
A great option is to go with an entirely grainless diet. Many of the high quality foods now put out grainless formulas. Some good grainless diets include: Innova EVO, Wellness CORE, Blue Wilderness, Nature's Variety Instinct, Orijen, Horizon Legacy, Merrick Before Grain, Canidae Grain Free All Life Stages, Fromm Surf & Turf, Now! and Sold Gold Barking At The Moon, Taste of the Wild.
Some pretty decent foods can even be found in common pet stores. Petsmart carries Blue Buffalo products (such as the excellent grain free diet Blue Wilderness). Petco carries Wellness, Solid Gold, Natural Balance, Eagle Pack Holistic, Blue Buffalo, Castor & Pollux Organix, Pinnacle, and Halo. If you can't find a food, most of the high quality food brands have websites with store locators on them.
Another option, if you can't find anywhere around you that sells good foods, is to order your pet food online. Here's an excellent place to do so: http://www.petfooddirect.com/store/
Remember that foods should be switched gradually (mixing new slowly in with the old over about a two week period), especially when switching to a higher quality one, so as not to upset tummies.
Another option for feeding dogs is to feed raw. This is something that should be thoroughly researched before being attempted:
http://www.barfworld.com/
http://www.rawfed.com/
http://www.rawlearning.com/
http://www.wysong.net/controversies/rawmeat.shtml
Also remember that freefeeding (leaving food down) is the fast lane to canine obesity. Make sure to have scheduled feeding times based on the feeding instructions on your dog's food.

its spoil. consult a technician
You say that you get aggravated when you change something on your HVAC unit and you have to reset it.
Obviously, you need to stop resetting it to eliminate the aggravation!
No need to thank me; just doing my job.
Any fumes from the engine can be deadly. You have an exhaust leak near the engine and they are coming in through the heater/A/C system. This is providing what you are experiencing is exhaust fumes. It could be coolant from a heater core leak or freon from an evaporator leak.
Something similar happened to my Town Car and it was something leaking from the heater core. I had to spend a pretty penny to get it fixed! Or U could disconnect it and go without a heater which stinks in another way!
you probably have a hole in you exhaust manifold and yes it could be deadly. when driving the car keep your window rolled down A/C off and get you car to a muffler shop.
portables can cost more to run..esp in hotter climates.
Portable A/C units are not as efficient as central a/c units are. If you are paying that much just to run your a/c you must have an older model. They make better ones today. I just had an 18 Seer unit installed in my home and it has cut my electric bill down about $50 per month. Talk to a local HVAC company and see what they recommend. They usually do free estimates and can answer your questions a little better.
You don't need any instructions for this because its a pretty simple job for you to do.
1. Its on the passengers side under the dash.
2. Disconnect the battery first.
3. Remove the lower right under panel duct assembly.
4. Remove the blower motor connector from the resistor.
5. Remove the blower motor case retaining screws.
6. Lower the blower motor from the housing.
7. Remove the blower motor wheel from the blower motor.
8. Reverse to install.
9. Good luck.
you are using way too much product. pick one that works for you and stick to it.
ok i have the same type of hair its very wavy i use garnier surf hair and it volumizes and keeps my waves in place but just apply a little
Go bald.
Try using products that don't give extra weight to your hair so that the volume stays and in the same time doesn't feel heavy. I adore curly hair, and you're lucky to have it naturally. Just use a lot of conditioning products as conditioners and masks so that you prevent it from bath influences.
I think I've got a similar hair type to you. What I do is flip my hair over and blow dry it upside down. It gives it more volume that way. I don't usually put product in my hair because it curls on its own. Sometimes ill straighten my bangs or any funny spots, but not always. If you feel as if you have to use something, put some gel or moose or whatever (just a little bit) in your hands and scrunch your hair while its still flipped upside down. it'll keep the curls a bit better. it took a while for me to find this method, and it works great for me. Hope you find something that works for you too.
well first of all you don't need all the products that you use..
how about trying tresemme mousse or hairspray..
if you want it straight then try letting your hair dry right after you get out the shower the putting frizz ease in it....
then straighten it....hope it helps
my hair used to be this way but now I have figured out how to do it I have perfect ringlets: Ausie volume shampo, Beadhead CURLS ROCK conditioner and then when u get out of the shower wring ur hair and get all of the acsess water out and then put in herbal essence curl mousse and take the diffuser and u put the tips to ur hair untill that part is dry but let the diffuser tough ur hair, or air dry. Good luck I hope this helps!!!
I kind of have similar hair to yours, just less straight.
If your hair is on the thicker side, I've found that using a little big of a light lotion makes my hair really pretty. Its also healthy for your hair. Right when I get out of the shower, I put like maybe a dime sized dollop, rub it in my hands then run it through my hair and shake it out. Then it looks great when you air dry it, because the lotions have oils that help weight down the frizz and then it also helps the curls look really natural.
Also you can use conditioner in this way. Do the same as the lotion, but after take a comb with teeth that are really close together then brush out a lot of the conditioner. It works pretty good for me, and its a lot cheaper then buying like 4 or 5 different products, which I sadly used to do.
I have a friend that is of mixed heritage she's black and hispanic and doo gro does wonders for her. I would also suggest that if you are certain that there was damage have that the damaged hair clipped. No relaxers and no dyes stay as natural as you can try hair care products for women of color too.
If your hair is breaking off, that is something that is happening on the outside, and not an internal problem. If the hair is not growing anymore, that would come from inside.
I would first of all recommend that you stop using H&S -- that is incredibly bad for hair, and I suspect that is what is causing your hair to break off. I also think that you are not handling your hair correctly. You may be putting too much pressure and tension on it, and in that fragile condition it is in now from the shampoo, it simply breaks off.
Because I don't know what is exactly going on, it is hard to know for sure. I think you need to use correct products and look after your hair. I don't believe anything that you apply to the outside is going to make your hair grow faster. But if you look after it properly, it will get longer. Hair is always growing.
The hair goes through three phases: growth phase, stops growing, starts shedding. Each hair strand on your head is in a different phase of this cycle. Also, the growth phases are usually between 2-6 years. People with 6 years of straight growth are the ones you see with extremely long hair (assuming they keep it from breaking off). Those on a short growth cycle tend to have short hair. Nothing can change this. If your hair is on a 4 year growth phase then one strand might be in the shedding phase, another in it's second year of the growth cycle, and another in the 3rd year of the growth cycle.
But, all your hair at once will not be in the same cycle. Make sure your hair is not breaking because usually your hair is growing but you're not seeing the growth because it's breaking off. If it's breaking off badly then you could actually lose length. Visit the long hair care forum (http://www.longhaircareforum.com) and you'll get some tips and product recommendations for growing your hair long again. You can't post there unless you pay, but you can read the threads and proceed from there.
You might also want to consider going natural again so you can have healthier hair. It could be the perm that's breaking off your hair, or, if you're using a lot of heat then that could also be the culprit. Also, consider it could be something your doing to your hair to cause all the breakage/damage.
Buy a deep conditioner, something that's specifically anti-breakage, and use that once a week. You also might want to switch to a shampoo and conditioner that's has an anti-breakage forumula. When you wash always use a leave-in conditioner to help keep your hair protected, and find a daily moisturizer that's also anti-breakage.
put a large sponge on top of the unit
Make yourself a pitch roof out of some weather proof material and put it on your A/C unit. That way when the water comes down it'll hit the pitched roof and just divert off. If it's still a little loud then put some styrofoam underneath and that'll insulate the sound. You can be creative as in how it looks so it'll look neat. Also if the pidgons like to roost on it, put some nails in it to keep them off.
